Whistling in the dark: To be confident that something good will happen when it is not at all likely. But also: To play Irish tunes to put my daughter to bed. I'm a thirtysomething schmuck in Boston who bought a tinwhistle a few years ago and discovered a whole musical universe. This blog chronicles my journey learning the art and craft of Irish traditional music. It is about things that I wish I'd read somewhere, but had to discover on my own. This is not a soapbox, but a collection of stuff offered up in the hope that it will be useful. But I also hope to make a few new friends. Thus, interaction is not just welcome, but encouraged.
